OHSU Building

Project Description

Pence/Kelly Concrete completed this 11 month, 5.5 million dollar concrete package ahead of the scheduled completion date and achieved our goal of zero time-loss injuries. The project involved construction of a new 11 story 260,000 square foot structural steel and concrete building. The structure includes five basement levels and two free-standing concrete shear walls extending to a combined height of 350 vertical feet. Work was performed on steep terrain with little to no lay down area. All contractors parked offsite and coordinated deliveries on a just-in-time basis. This required intricate planning and coordination to avoid any delays in the project. Cutting edge technology was utilized by making use of a concrete maturity testing system to decrease shear wall form cycle times. This new addition to the Portland skyline incorporates nearly 12,000 CY of concrete.
