The Oregon Military Department Joint Forces Headquarters, located in Salem, is a composite structure featuring concrete and steel. The lobby of the 55, 078 square-foot office building features two elevations of exposed slab on grade. To add to the complexity, the concrete stairs differentiating the two elevations are curved. The entry way features a beautiful board formed concrete finish. To accomplish the architect’s vision, each board for the form was handpicked by the superintendent.
The triangulated steel columns are connected to the concrete foundation by steel baseplates, and required careful precision of the anchor bolts. Architectural site walls were installed around the outside of the building. Our contributions with regional and recycled materials assisted towards the LEED Gold certification.
